Andy Smith is one of the founding partners at studio:planA urbanists/architects.  A former Director at Austin – Smith:Lord, he headed the masterplanning urban design and planning offer in the North West.

Andy has been engaged in regeneration and place making for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience managing and working with multi-disciplinary teams. His experience majors on the delivery of framework masterplans, responsive to the influences associated with the multi-facetted commissioning partners tasked with promoting the renaissance agenda and his entrepreneurial approach to project development helps cultivate robust project outcomes.

Based in the Liverpool Studio, he is an efficient and valued leader who provides an interface between the client and design team ensuring client expectations are understood and fulfilled. Andy brings a blend of technical and managerial skills developed from a range of urban design/regeneration assignments.

His particular expertise is focused on the interface between the planning system and design, integrated framework masterplan formulation as a vehicle for informed development change (notably in the field of education), urban design-townscape analysis/guidance, action planning and the preparation of planning application ‘bundles’.
